Lightspeed Systems was first established as McCarthy and Associates, and incorporated as MacSoft in 1984. MacSoft didn't turn out to be such a great name for a company focused on integrating disparate systems, namely Wang minicomputers and PCs. The corporate name change from MacSoft came in the mid 1990s.
